Capture the serene beauty of the Austrian Alps with this exquisite vintage Bavaria porcelain collector's plate. Issued for the holiday season of 1998, this limited-edition Christmas plate ("Weihnachten 1998") beautifully continues the iconic series with a snowy, starlit mountain landscape.
The front of the plate showcases the historic, late-Gothic Wallfahrtskirche Maria Schnee (Pilgrimage Church of Our Lady of the Snow) located in Obermauern within the scenic Virgental valley of East Tyrol, Austria. Rendered in a deep, traditional "Echt Kobalt" (True Cobalt) glaze, the design features striking monochrome contrasts that evoke a crisp, peaceful winter night in the mountains.
The reverse side bears the distinguished golden Bavaria backstamp crest and clear German typography documenting the historic landmark. Crafted from high-grade German hard-paste porcelain, it is an ideal addition for collectors of fine holiday plates, lovers of European architecture, or anyone wishing to bring alpine winter charm to their home decor.
