A sunning vintage French porcelain lidded ginger / powder jar finished in a deep, rich cobalt blue glaze. Made in the famous pottery hub of Limoges, France, this piece bears the backstamp of the renowned decorator Fontanille & Marraud (indicated by the crowned shield with the letter "F").
The body features a classic, romantic Fragonard-style scene of a courtly couple relaxing in a garden. The scene is framed by heavy, intricate 22k gold scrollwork. The rim, lid edge, and top finial are heavily accented in genuine gold leaf, marked "Garanti Or Veritable" (Guaranteed Real Gold) on the base.
